Die Rise
A downloadable game
Keyboard Controls:
A and D to move left and right. W and S to cycle between weapons. Shift for sprint. Spacebar to jump. And mouse to aim, and left click to fire, and right click to zoom out.
Controller Controls:
Left stick to move, right stick to aim. Left stick press to zoom out, right stick press to fire. Top Triggers for cycling weapons, left bottom trigger for sprint, and right bottom trigger for jump.
This is a prototype I created for a college casual game jam. The concept is to escape the destroyed and burning towers. If you hit the spikes, you reset back to a checkpoint, or your starting position, but if the fire engulfs you, the entire game resets.
The point of this is to give you ample attempts and wiggle room to attempt difficult platforming challenges, while still focusing on doing it quickly and accurately. Learning the exact heights or distances your jumps or weapons will launch you.
The weapons pickups are as follows:
Shotgun: It has mediocre horizontal force, but can be used as a double jump, or controlled jump while on the ground. This weapon also has an upgrade that has a difficult platforming challenge attached, that allows for two shots, instead of just one.
Uzi: It has low power in all directions, but has a fire-rate and ammo capacity that allows for hovers or more controlled long jumps.
Sniper: It has almost completely worthless vertical power, but a rocketing boost horizontally, similar to a dash or air dash depending on where it is used.
By cycling through these weapons, learning when and when not to jump, and by learning difficult shortcuts, you can quick completion times with enough practice.
Future Plans:
- Modified map with more difficult shortcuts
- Two or three different UIs that give better indicators on how the weapons function used as an easy, normal, and hard mode
- Moving enemies that need to be killed
- Bullet effects or objects visible
- Updated Sound Effects
- Music
- Menu
- And if all these are done, an official steam release
